Circuit/System Verification

NOTE:
This diagnostic assumes the following :
- Verify the battery is completely charged. Refer to Battery Inspection/Test .
- Verify the engine cranking speed should be at least 100 RPM cold and 180 RPM hot. Refer to Engine Cranks Slowly .
- Verify there is adequate fuel in the fuel tank.
- Engine cranking for 15 s, verify the DTC information with a scan tool. Verify that no DTC is set.
- If any DTC is set
Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle .
- Go to next step : If no DTC is set
- If any DTC is set
- Visually inspect the fuel system from the high pressure pump to the fuel tank for leaks.
- If a fuel leak is present
Refer to Fuel System Diagnosis .
- Go to next step : If no fuel leaks are present
- If a fuel leak is present
- Engine cranking for 15 s, observe the scan tool Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor parameter. The reading should be greater than 13 MPa (1885 PSI)
- If the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor parameter is less than 13 MPa (1885 PSI)
Refer to Fuel System Diagnosis
- Go to next step : If the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor parameter is 13 MPa (1885 PSI) or greater
- If the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor parameter is less than 13 MPa (1885 PSI)
- Verify the following conditions do not exist :
- Collapsed air intake duct to the throttle body
- Restricted air filter element
- A skewed engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor. Verify sensor resistance against the Temperature Versus Resistance - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor tables.
- Exhaust system restricted. Refer to Restricted Exhaust .
- Fuel contamination. Refer to Contaminants-in-Fuel Diagnosis .
- Engine mechanical condition, for example, worn timing belt or low compression. Refer to Symptoms - Engine Controls , or Engine Compression Test .
- If any of the above listed conditions are exists
Repair as necessary.
- Go to next step : If no of the above listed conditions is exists
- All OK.
