Circuit/System Testing

  1. Perform the scan tool control function: Cylinder Power Balance - Enable

    Verify the sound of the engine changes the same way when turning off each individual injector.

    • If the engine sound does not change the same way for one or more cylinders 
    1. Perform a conventional engine compression test. Refer to: Engine Compression Test

      Verify each cylinder has sufficient compression.

      • If one or more cylinders indicate low compression - Refer to: Symptoms - Engine Mechanical
      • If all cylinders indicate normal compression - Replace the appropriate component: Q17 Fuel Injector
    • Go to next step: If the engine sound changes the same way for all cylinders 
  2. All OK.
