  1. Verify the integrity of the DPF system by visually and physically inspecting any of the following conditions:
    • Any damaged exhaust system components
    • Loose or improperly installed exhaust system components.
    • Restrictions in the exhaust differential pressure sensor ports.
    • Damaged, bent, restricted, or kinked exhaust differential pressure lines.
    • If a condition is found

      Repair as necessary.

    • Go to next step: If no condition is found
  2. Remove and inspect the flexible part of the exhaust differential pressure lines for internal restrictions.
    • If any restrictions are found

      Repair as necessary.

    • Go to next step: If no restrictions are found
  3. Connect the EN 23738 - A vacuum gauge to port two (rear of particulate filter) of the B154 Diesel Particulate Filter Exhaust Differential Pressure Sensor.
  4. Ignition ON, using the EN 23738 - A vacuum gauge, slowly apply -10 kPa (3 in Hg) vacuum to the sensor while observing the DPF Differential Pressure parameter.
  5. Verify the parameter increases smoothly without spikes or dropouts.
    • If the parameter does not increase smoothly

Replace the B154 Diesel Particulate Filter Exhaust Differential Pressure Sensor.

    • Go to next step: If the parameter increases smoothly
  6. Replace the Exhaust Particulate Filter.
