Circuit/System Testing

NOTE:

Circuit/System Verification must be performed before proceeding to Circuit/System Testing.

  1. Verify the conditions listed below do not exist:
    • Loose clamps, cracks or other damage in the air intake system.
    • Collapsed or restricted intake duct system.
    • Air flow restrictions, including the air filter.
    • Air leaks between the turbocharger and the intake air flow valve, including the charge air cooler assembly.
    • Leaks at the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) heater to air cleaner outlet duct interface, refer to Crankcase Ventilation System Inspection/Diagnosis .
    • Missing, restricted or leaking exhaust components including the EGR valve, refer to Symptoms - Engine Exhaust .
    • Loose or incorrect installation of any components.
    • Aftermarket components.
    • Incorrect fuel content or contamination, refer to Contaminants-in-Fuel Diagnosis .
    • Damaged or restricted turbocharger vane control actuator.
    • If a condition is found 

      Repair or replace the component as necessary.

    • Go to next step: If no condition is found 
  2. Verify the conditions listed below do not exist:
    • If a condition exists 

      Repair the condition or replace the component as necessary.

    • Go to next step: If none of the conditions exist 
  3. Replace the turbocharger.
