Removal Procedure

  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Position the steering column shift lever to park.
  3. Remove the knee bolster bracket. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement (Left Side) , or Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement (Right Side)

    Remove the clip (3) securing the shift cable to the steering column bracket.

  5. Remove the shift cable (1) from the steering column shift control (2).
  6. Remove the left side body hinge pillar trim panel. Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement
  7. Pull back the carpet and insulation to gain access to the shift cable pass-through grommet.

    Remove the rubber grommet (2) from the floor panel.

  9. Disconnect the retainer (1).
  10. Raise the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  11. Disconnect the range selector lever cable retainer located on the left side underbody near the cable adjuster.

    Remove the shift cable (2) from the shift lever (3).

  13. Remove the locking clip (1) from the cable at the bracket.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Remove the shift cable from the vehicle.
