Removal Procedure

- Inspect the fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir.
- If the fluid level is midway between the maximum-full point and the minimum allowable level, no fluid needs to be removed from the reservoir before proceeding.
- If the brake fluid level is higher than midway between the maximum-full point and the minimum allowable level, remove brake fluid to the midway point before proceeding.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Without Dual Rear Wheels) , or Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (With Dual Rear Wheels)
- Place a large C-clamp over the brake caliper body and against the outer brake pad.
- Using the C-clamp, carefully compress the brake caliper piston fully into the brake caliper bore.
Brake Hose Fitting Bolt(1) - Remove
- Brake Hose Fitting Gasket(2)@Brake Hose Fitting (3) - Remove and DISCARD[2x]
- Cap the brake hose fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- NOTE:
Do not remove the brake caliper guide pins unless replacement is required.
Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Bolt(1) - Remove[2x]
Remove the rear brake caliper and rear brake caliper bracket as an assembly (1).
Rear Disc Brake Outer Pad(2) - Remove
- Rear Disc Brake Inner Pad(1) - Remove
Rear Disc Brake Pad Retainer Spring(1) - Remove[4x]
- NOTE:
Do not remove the brake caliper guide pins unless replacement is required.
Rear Brake Caliper(1)@Rear Brake Caliper Guide Pin - Remove
- Inspect the brake caliper mounting and hardware for damage and wear. Rear Disc Brake Mounting and Hardware Inspection (With Single Rear Wheel) , or Rear Disc Brake Mounting and Hardware Inspection (With Dual Rear Wheel)
Rear Brake Caliper Guide Pin Boot(1) - Remove[2x]
- Rear Brake Caliper Guide Pin Seal(2) - Remove[2x]
NOTE:
Do NOT reuse the brake hose fitting gaskets.
