Component Testing

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Remove - Transmission Cover
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector: X175 @ T12 Automatic Transmission Assembly
  4. Disconnect - B15 Transmission Internal Mode Switch
  5. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between each of the following circuit pairs, one at a time:

    9V Reference Circuit 1Terminal 10 &

    • Signal B - Terminal 8
    • Signal P - Terminal 9
    • Signal S - Terminal 7
  6. Test for infinite resistance between the test points:

    9V Reference Circuit 1Terminal 10 &

    • Signal B - Terminal 8
    • Signal P - Terminal 9
    • Signal S - Terminal 7
    • If less than infinite resistance 
    1. Remove - Jumper Wire
    2. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between each of the following circuit pairs, one at a time:
    3. 9V Reference Circuit 2Terminal 4 &
      • Signal B - Terminal 8
      • Signal P - Terminal 9
      • Signal S - Terminal 7
    4. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Terminal 31 @ X175 & Ground
      • If less than infinite resistance 

        Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Control Wiring Harness

      • If infinite resistance 

        Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Control Wiring Harness

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance 
  7. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between each of the following circuit pairs, one at a time:

    9V Reference Circuit 1Terminal 10 &

    • Signal B - Terminal 8
    • Signal P - Terminal 9
    • Signal S - Terminal 7
  8. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:

    9V Reference Circuit 1Terminal 10 &

    • Signal B - Terminal 8
    • Signal P - Terminal 9
    • Signal S - Terminal 7
    • If greater than 2 ohms 
    1. Remove - Jumper Wire
    2. Disconnect the electrical connector: X176
    3. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between each of the following circuit pairs, one at a time:

      9V Reference Circuit 1Terminal 19 @ X176 &

      • Signal B - Terminal 3
      • Signal P - Terminal 17
      • Signal S - Terminal 6
    4. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:

      9V Reference Circuit 1Terminal 10 &

      • Signal B - Terminal 28
      • Signal P - Terminal 23
      • Signal S - Terminal 34
      • If less than infinite resistance 

        Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Control Wiring Harness

      • If infinite resistance 

        Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Control Wiring Harness

    • Go to next step: If less than 2 ohms 
  9. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between each of the following circuit pairs, one at a time:

    9V Reference Circuit 2Terminal 4 @ B15 Transmission Internal Mode Switch &

  10. Connect a jumper wire between the 9 V Reference 2 circuit terminal 4 and each signal circuit listed below one at a time:
    • Signal A - Terminal 5
    • Signal C - Terminal 6
  11. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: 9V Reference Circuit 2Terminal 29 @ X175 & Ground
    • If less than infinite resistance 
    1. Remove - Jumper Wire
    2. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between each of the following circuit pairs, one at a time:

      9V Reference Circuit 2Terminal 5 @ X176 &

      • Signal A - Terminal 2
      • Signal C - Terminal 11
    3. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: X175Terminal 29 & Ground
      • If less than infinite resistance 

        Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Control Wiring Harness

      • If infinite resistance 

        Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Control Wiring Harness

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance 
  12. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between each of the following circuit pairs, one at a time:

    9V Reference Circuit 2Terminal 5 @ X176 &

    • Signal A - Terminal 2
    • Signal C - Terminal 11
  13. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:

    9V Reference Circuit 2Terminal 29 @ X175 &

    • Signal A - Terminal 22
    • Signal C - Terminal 21
    • If greater than 2 ohms 
    1. Remove - Jumper Wire
    2. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between each of the following circuit pairs, one at a time:

      9V Reference Circuit 2Terminal 5 @ X176 &

      • Signal A - Terminal 2
      • Signal C - Terminal 11
    3. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:

      9V Reference Circuit 2Terminal 29 @ X175 &

      • Signal A - Terminal 22
      • Signal C - Terminal 21
      • If greater than 2 ohms 

        Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Control Wiring Harness

      • If less than 2 ohms 

        Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Control Wiring Harness

    • Go to next step: If less than 2 ohms 
  14. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points: Ignition circuit terminal 1 & Ground circuit terminal 2 @ B15 Transmission Internal Mode Switch
  15. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Ignition circuit terminal 12Ignition terminal X176 & Ground
    • If less than infinite resistance 

      Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Control Wiring Harness

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance 
    1. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: Ignition circuit terminal 12 & Ground circuit terminal 20 @ X176
    2. If 2 Ω or greater, replace the transmission control wiring harness.
    • If 2 ohms or greater - Replace the component:

      Automatic Transmission Control Wiring Harness

    • Go to next step: If 2 ohms or less

      Go to next step: All OK.

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance 
  16. Remove - Jumper Wire
  17. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points: Ignition circuit terminal 12 & Ground circuit terminal 20 @ X176
  18. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Ignition circuit terminal 35 @ X176 & Ground
    • If less than infinite resistance 

      Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Control Wiring Harness

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance
    1. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: Ignition circuit terminal 35 & Ground circuit terminal 30 & X175
    2. If 2 Ω or greater, replace the automatic transmission wiring harness, electrical connector passage sleeve.
    • If 2 ohms or greater

      Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Control Wiring Harness

    • Go to next step: If 2 ohms or less

      Go to next step: All OK.

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance 
  19. Replace the component: B15 Transmission Internal Mode Switch
