Installation Procedure

  1. GM695758
    NOTE:

    Ensure that the axle shaft bearing is fully seated in the rear axle shaft housing.

    Using the J-45853  Front Output Shaft Bearing Installer (1) and the J-8092  driver (2), install the axle shaft bearing.

  2. GM885624

    Using the J-35388  Rear Main Seal Installer, install the axle shaft seal.

  3. Drive the tool into the bore until the axle shaft seal bottoms flush with the tube.
  4. Install the rear axle shaft. Rear Axle Shaft Replacement 
  5. Install the rear axle housing cover. Rear Axle Housing Cover and Gasket Replacement (10.5 Inch Axle) , or Rear Axle Housing Cover and Gasket Replacement (9.5 Inch Axle) 
  6. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Without Dual Rear Wheels) , or Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (With Dual Rear Wheels)
  7. Fill the rear axle. Differential Oil Replacement (10.5 Inch Axle) , or Differential Oil Replacement (9.5 Inch Axle) 
  8. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
