Removal Procedure

WARNING:
Refer to Brake Dust Warning .
- Disable the parking brake cable adjuster. Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling
- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Without Dual Rear Wheels) , or Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (With Dual Rear Wheels)
Rear Brake Rotor (1) - Remove - Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JH6) , or Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JH9)
- Parking Brake Rear Cable@ Rear Parking Brake Actuator Lever - Disconnect - Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Left Side , or Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Right Side
- NOTE:
The rear axle is shown removed for graphic clarity. It is not necessary to remove the axle.
Rear Parking Brake Shoe Hold Down Spring (1) - Remove [2x]
- Rear Parking Brake Shoe Pin (2) - Remove [2x]
- Adjust rear park brake adjuster to minimum adjustment to gain clearance.
Lower Rear Parking Brake Return Spring (2) - Remove
- Rear Park Brake Adjuster (1) - Remove
- Carefully spread the bottom of the rear parking brake shoes (1) enough to clear the axle shaft.
- Remove the rear parking brake shoes (1), and upper rear parking brake return spring (2) to the vehicle as an assembly.
