Parking Brake Shoe Inspection

WARNING:
Refer to Brake Dust Warning .
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Without Dual Rear Wheels) , or Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (With Dual Rear Wheels) .
- Remove the rear brake caliper bracket with the rear brake caliper. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement (JH9) , or Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement (JH6) .
- Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JH6) , or Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JH9) .
- Inspect and replace the park brake shoe and lining if any of the following conditions are found:
- Excessive wear indicated by the park brake lining being worn down to the shoe
- Brake lining cracking
- Oil or fluid contamination of the brake lining
- Adjust the park brake shoe. Refer to Parking Brake Adjustment .
- Install the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JH6) , or Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JH9) .
- Install the rear brake caliper with the rear brake caliper bracket. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement (JH9) , or Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement (JH6) .
- Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Without Dual Rear Wheels) , or Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (With Dual Rear Wheels) .
- Lower the vehicle.
