WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 GMC Savana 3500, 2019 GMC Savana 2500, 2019 Chevrolet Express 3500, and 2019 Chevrolet Express 2500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- NOTE:
Removal of both clips is needed for visual inspection and to allow reassembly of the rod without twisting the rod or pins. Do not apply any force on the actuator components and crank pin.
Remove clips (1, 2) with a suitable tool, such as a screwdriver.
Remove the actuator rod (1).
Visually inspect the crank pin (1) and actuator pin (2). Ensure that the following conditions exist:
- Pins must be free of marks from clamping or shock.
- Pins should be free of excessive wear.
- Crank lever must be free of bending.
- Visually inspect the actuator rod (1). Ensure that the following conditions exist:
- Rod must not present marks from clamping or shock.
- Rod must be free of any abnormal bends.
- Hole diameters are free of excessive wear.
- Measure the actuator rod and crank pin. Then compare values to the chart below. If the actuator rod or pin is outside of these values, a new turbocharger must be installed.
| Component | Characteristic | Min Value | Max Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rod | Hole Inside Diameter | 7. 5 mm (0. 295 in) | 7. 6 mm (0. 299 in) |
| Straightness | 0. 3 mm (0. 0118 in) | 0. 5 mm (0. 0196 in) | |
| Pin | Outside Diameter | 7. 4 mm (0. 291 in) | 7. 5 mm (0. 295 in) |
