Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the valve rocker arms. Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement 
  2. Remove the starter. Starter Replacement (LV1) .

    NOTE:

    If the EN-42386 - A  Flywheel Holding Tool is not installed, the crankshaft may rotate. If the crankshaft rotates, disassembly and reassembly of the entire camshaft timing system may be required.

    Install the EN-42386 - A  Flywheel Holding Tool (1) in order to prevent crankshaft rotation.

  4. Remove the spark plug from the applicable cylinder. Spark Plug Replacement (Left Bank, With/Without C69) , or Spark Plug Replacement (Right Bank, Without C69) , or Spark Plug Replacement (Right Bank, With C69)
  5. Install the EN-39313  Spark Plug Port Adapter to the applicable cylinder.
  6. Connect the EN-39313  Spark Plug Port Adapter to a compressed air source.

    Install the EN-46335-A  On-Vehicle Valve Spring Compressor (1) above the applicable cylinder as shown.

  8. Tighten the EN-46335-A  On-Vehicle Valve Spring Compressor bolt (2).
  9. Remove the valve keepers (3).
  10. Loosen the EN-46335-A  On-Vehicle Valve Spring Compressor bolt and remove the compressor.

    Valve Spring Retainer (1) - Remove

    Use the EN-46116  Valve Stem Seal Remover/Installer (1) in order to remove the valve stem seal (2).
