Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static LC8, LV1, L96) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE47716 LC8, LV1, L96)

    Fuel Rail (1) - Right Side - Remove - Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 2

    NOTE:

    Radiator shroud is removed for graphic clarity.

    Generator Mounting Bolt (2) - Remove - Generator Replacement (LV1 with K68) , or Generator Replacement (LV1 with KW5/KG4) [2x]

    Exhaust Manifold (1) - Right Side - Remove - Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right Side (LV1)

  5. Remove the valve rocker arm and push rod. Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement 
  6. Disconnect electrical connectors as necessary.

    NOTE:

    DISCARD all cylinder head bolts.

    Remove the cylinder head bolts (1, 2).

  8. Remove cylinder head (3).
  9. Remove and DISCARD cylinder head gasket (4). Replacing Engine Gaskets 
  10. For cleaning and inspection, refer to Cylinder Head Cleaning and Inspection .
  11. For cylinder head disassembly, refer to Cylinder Head Disassemble .
