Installation Procedure

  1. For cylinder head assembly, refer to Cylinder Head Assembly .
  2. Clean any debris or residual fastener thread sealant from the engine block cylinder head bolt holes to ensure proper torque or clamp load.
  3. Fig 1: Cylinder Head Components And Bolts With Tightening Sequence - Left Side

    Install a NEW cylinder head gasket (1).

  4. Install cylinder head (2).
  5. Hand start NEW cylinder head bolts (3, 4).
  6. Tighten cylinder head bolts in sequence. Cylinder Head Installation - Left Side 
  7. Install the valve rocker arm and push rod. Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement

    Exhaust Manifold (1) - Left Side - Install - Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left Side (LV1)

  9. Connect electrical connectors as necessary.

    Oil Level Indicator Tube (2) - Lower - Install - Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement (Lower)

    Fuel Rail (1) - Left Side - Install - Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 1

  12. Power Steering Pump Bracket - Install - Power Steering Pump Bracket Replacement
  13. Refill the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static LC8, LV1, L96) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE47716 LC8, LV1, L96)
