Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the Q85 Cooling Fan Clutch.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the Q85 Cooling Fan Clutch voltage control circuit terminal 2 and ground, ignition ON.
    3. NOTE:

    Engine may have to be running to control the Cooling Fan Solenoid Valve.

  3. Command the Cooling Fan Solenoid Valve to 50 % with a scan tool.
  4. Verify the test lamp illuminates and flashes ON and OFF
    • If the test lamp illuminates without flashing 
    1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the KR20F Cooling Fan Relay, ignition ON.
    2. Test for less than 1 V between the Q85 Cooling Fan Clutch voltage control circuit terminal 2 and ground.
      • If greater than 1 V, repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
      • If less than 1 V, replace the KR20F Cooling Fan Relay.
    • Go to next step: If the test lamp flashes 
  5. Replace the Q85 Cooling Fan Clutch.
