Circuit/System Verification

- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Verify the following procedure was performed: Inspection/Maintenance System Check .
- If the procedure was not performed
Refer to Inspection/Maintenance System Check .
- If the procedure was performed NOTE: Do NOT skip any step before the DTC status is complete, otherwise the process must be repeated.
- If the procedure was not performed
- Verify the scan tool parameter: Cold Start-Up = Yes
- If not the specified state
Ignition/Vehicle - Off - For greater than 8 h & Repeat this step
- If the specified state
- If not the specified state
- Verify the scan tool parameter: EVAP Monitor - Since DTCs Cleared = Complete
- If not the specified state
- Perform the following procedure/test: Evaporative Emission System Diagnosis
- Verify the scan tool parameter: EVAP Monitor - Since DTCs Cleared = Complete
- If not the specified state - Repeat the procedure starting at step 1
- If the specified state
- Refer to the next step

- Ignition/Vehicle - Off - For greater than 8 h
- Verify the scan tool parameter: Cold Start-Up = Yes
- If not the specified state
Ignition/Vehicle » Off - For greater than 8 h & Repeat this step
- If the specified state

- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode - For 1 min
- Engine - Idling - For 2 minWARNING: Road test a vehicle under safe conditions and while obeying all traffic laws. Do not attempt any maneuvers that could jeopardize vehicle control. Failure to adhere to these precautions could lead to serious personal injury and vehicle damage.NOTE:
- You have completed this procedure when all parameters display Complete.
- Short stops for traffic will not affect the procedure.
- Drive the vehicle while maintaining the following conditions for 20 min:
- Part Throttle
- Vehicle Speed = 24 to 97 km/h (15 to 60 MPH)
- Safely stop the vehicle
- Operate the engine/vehicle within the following conditions:
- Accelerate the vehicle to 64 km/h (40 MPH)
- Accelerate the vehicle from 64 to 97 km/h (40 to 60 MPH) @ Throttle position between 10% and 13%
- Release the accelerator pedal and let the vehicle coast down with the brake pedal released - For greater than 20s
- Accelerate the vehicle from 64 to 97 km/h (40 to 60 MPH) @ Throttle position between 13% and 16%
- Release the accelerator pedal and let the vehicle coast down with the brake pedal released - For greater than 20s
- Accelerate the vehicle from 64 to 97 km/h (40 to 60 MPH) @ Throttle position between 16% and 19%
- Release the accelerator pedal and let the vehicle coast down with the brake pedal released - For greater than 20s
- Accelerate the vehicle from 64 to 97 km/h (40 to 60 MPH) @ Throttle position between 19% and 22%
- Release the accelerator pedal and let the vehicle coast down with the brake pedal released - For greater than 20s
- Accelerate the vehicle from 64 to 97 km/h (40 to 60 MPH) @ Throttle position between 22% and 25%
- Release the accelerator pedal and let the vehicle coast down with the brake pedal released - For greater than 20s
NOTE: Do NOT use cruise control during this procedure. - Maintain steady state throttle at 89 km/h (55 MPH) - For 10 min
- Safely stop the vehicleNOTE:
- The parameters listed below are located in the following scan tool data list: Inspection/Maintenance System Status Data
- If the scan tool parameters continue to display Incomplete, refer to the following table to identify the DTCs that did not run: Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) System DTC Table .
- Verify the scan tool parameter and the MIL is not illuminated:
- Boost System Monitor - Since Diagnostic Trouble Codes Cleared
- Catalytic Converter Monitor - Since Diagnostic Trouble Codes Cleared = Complete or Not Supported
- Evaporative Emission Monitor - Since Diagnostic Trouble Codes Cleared = Complete or Not Supported
- Exhaust Aftertreatment Monitor - Since Diagnostic Trouble Codes Cleared
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve/Camshaft Position Monitor - Since Diagnostic Trouble Codes Cleared = Complete or Not Supported
- Exhaust Gas Sensor Monitor - Since Diagnostic Trouble Codes Cleared
- Fuel System Monitor - Since Diagnostic Trouble Codes Cleared = Complete or Not Supported
- Oxygen Sensor/Heated Oxygen Sensor Monitor - Since Diagnostic Trouble Codes Cleared = Complete or Not Supported
- Oxygen Sensor Heater Monitor - Since Diagnostic Trouble Codes Cleared = Complete or Not Supported
- Particulate Filter Monitor - Since Diagnostic Trouble Codes Cleared = Complete or Not Supported
- If the specified state & The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is NOT illuminated
Procedure Complete
NOTE: Many DTC related repairs instruct the technician to clear the DTC information. Clearing the DTCs will reset ALL of the I/M System Status monitors to Incomplete, and require performing the I/M Complete System Set Procedure. - If the specified state & The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is illuminated
Repair the DTC that set and verify the DTC passes
- If not the specified state
- Verify a DTC is NOT Pending
- If a DTC is set or a DTC is Pending
Repair the DTC that set and verify the DTC passes
- If a DTC is NOT set or a DTC is NOT Pending
- If a DTC is set or a DTC is Pending
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off - For greater than 8 h & Repeat step 8-15
