Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the appropriate electrical connector: X160 or X161
  3. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
  4. Verify the scan tool parameter:

    X160

    • Cylinder 1 Injector Control Circuit Status = OK
    • Cylinder 3 Injector Control Circuit Status = OK
    • Cylinder 5 Injector Control Circuit Status = OK

    X161

    • Cylinder 2 Injector Control Circuit Status = OK
    • Cylinder 4 Injector Control Circuit Status = OK
    • Cylinder 6 Injector Control Circuit Status = OK
    • If not the specified state 
    1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
    2. Disconnect the electrical connector: X3 @ K20 Engine Control Module
    3. Test for infinite resistance between the test points:
      • { Q17A Fuel Injector 1 } Terminal 72 & Terminal 52 @ Control module harness
      • { Q17B Fuel Injector 2 } Terminal 71 & Terminal 51 @ Control module harness
      • { Q17C Fuel Injector 3 } Terminal 67 & Terminal 47 @ Control module harness
      • { Q17D Fuel Injector 4 } Terminal 66 & Terminal 46 @ Control module harness
      • { Q17E Fuel Injector 5 } Terminal 70 & Terminal 50 @ Control module harness
      • { Q17F Fuel Injector 6 } Terminal 68 & Terminal 48 @ Control module harness
      • If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short between the circuits.
      • If infinite resistance - Replace the component: K20 Engine Control Module
    • Go to next step: If the specified state 
  5. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  6. Disconnect the appropriate electrical connector: Q17 Fuel Injector
  7. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Q17 Fuel Injector Terminal 1 & Terminal 2 @ Component harness
    • If less than infinite resistance 

      Repair the short between the circuits: High Control & Low Control

    • If infinite resistance 

      Test or replace the component: Q17 Fuel Injector
