Circuit/System Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 GMC Savana 3500, 2019 GMC Savana 2500, 2019 Chevrolet Express 3500, and 2019 Chevrolet Express 2500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Engine Coolant Level Switch is normally-closed with proper engine coolant level. The switch opens when the engine coolant level drops below a calibrated level. With the switch in the closed position, the Instrument Cluster detects a low voltage on the signal circuit. With the switch in the open position, the Instrument Cluster detects a high voltage on the signal circuit. When high voltage is detected on the signal circuit, the Instrument Cluster will then display a message on the driver information center (DIC) or illuminate a Low Coolant indicator lamp.
