Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 GMC Savana 3500, 2019 GMC Savana 2500, 2019 Chevrolet Express 3500, and 2019 Chevrolet Express 2500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:

Circuit/System Verification must be performed before proceeding with Circuit/System Testing.

  1. Ignition ON, verify that the instrument panel cluster warning indicators are illuminated.
    • If the instrument panel cluster warning indicators are not illuminated, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the ignition circuit fuse is open, replace the P16 instrument panel cluster.
  2. Ignition OFF, disconnect ECM X1 harness connector. Ignition ON, the Wait to Start Lamp should not illuminate.
    • If the Wait to Start Lamp is illuminated, test the Wait To Start Indicator Control circuit terminal X1 19 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the P16 instrument panel cluster.
  3. Ignition ON, connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the Wait To Start Indicator Control circuit terminal X1 19 and ground. The Wait to Start Lamp should illuminate.
    • If the Wait to Start Lamp does not illuminate, test the Wait to Start Indicator Control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the P16 instrument panel cluster/bulb.
  4. If all circuits/connections test normal, replace the K20 engine control module.
