Circuit/System Verification
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Engine - Idling - At normal operating temperature
- Verify there is no abnormal noise from the component: Engine
- If an abnormal noise is present
Refer to: Symptoms - Engine Mechanical
- Go to next step: If no abnormal noise is present
- If an abnormal noise is present
- Verify the following conditions do not exist:
- Engine Oil - Contaminated/Dirty/Fill Level = Low
- Engine Oil Pressure - Low - Refer to: Oil Pressure Diagnosis and Testing
- If a condition exists
Repair as necessary
- Go to next step: If no condition exists
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Verify the scan tool parameter:
- Cylinder 2, 5 Deactivation Solenoid Valve Control Circuit High Voltage Test Status = Not Run or OK
- Cylinder 2, 5 Deactivation Solenoid Valve Control Circuit Low Voltage Test Status = Not Run or OK
- Cylinder 2, 5 Deactivation Solenoid Valve Control Circuit Open Test Status = Not Run or OK
- Perform the action while monitoring the parameter:
- Wiggle the harness and connector: Q83 Valve Lifter Oil Solenoid Valve
- Wiggle the harness and connector: X3@K20 Engine Control Module
- If not the specified state
Refer to: Circuit/System Testing
- Go to next step: If the specified state
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
Verify the DTC does not set.
- If the DTC sets
Refer to: Circuit/System Testing
- Go to next step: If the DTC is not set
- If the DTC sets
- All OK.
NOTE:
The engine oil level and the oil pressure are critical to the correct operation of the system.
