Installation Procedure

    NOTE:

    Install a NEW gasket.

    NOTE:

    Add 14mm bead of sealant at right and left T-Joint where front cover meets head and at rear of camshaft cover right and left T-Joint where vacuum pump bolts on.

    Camshaft Cover Gasket (1) - Install

    NOTE:

    The fuel feed pipe (3) is one time use. Do not loosen or bend pipe.

    Carefully tip the camshaft cover (1) under the fuel feed pipe (3) in the direction of the arrow to install it onto the cylinder head.

  3. Ensure that the locating pin (2) is seated into the cylinder head.

    Camshaft Cover (3) - Install

    5. NOTE:

    Ensure the long camshaft cover bolts (2) are installed in the correct positions.

  5. Camshaft Cover Bolt (2) - Loosely install [4x]
  6. Camshaft Cover Bolt (1) - Loosely install [19x]

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    Tighten the camshaft cover bolts in sequence to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

    NOTE:

    DO NOT loosen the fuel feed pipe fitting or bend the fuel feed pipe to install the fuel feed pipe bolt.

    Fuel Feed Pipe Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (At Fuel Injection Pump) , or Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (Engine to Tank)

  9. Camshaft Cover Heat Shield - Install - Camshaft Cover Heat Shield Replacement

    NOTE:

    Always ensure the PCV hose fitting O-Ring (3) seal is free of cuts or abrasions each time the fitting is attached to the turbocharger.

    Inspect the O-ring and replace if necessary. (3)

  11. Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose Fitting (2) - Connect
  12. Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose Fitting Bolt (1) - Install and tighten 8 N.m (71 lb in)
  13. Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve - Exhaust - Install Camshaft Position Actuator Exhaust Solenoid Valve Replacement
  14. Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve - Intake - Install - Camshaft Position Actuator Intake Solenoid Valve Replacement
  15. Engine Oil Level Indicator - Install
  16. Turbocharger Heat Shield - Install - Turbocharger Heat Shield Replacement 
  17. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp - Tighten - Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (Non-Tamperproof) , or Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (Tamperproof)
  18. Turbocharger Coolant Return Pipe - Install - Turbocharger Coolant Return Pipe Replacement (LTG)

    Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe - Install - Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement (LTG)

  20. Vacuum Pump - Install - Vacuum Pump Replacement
  21. Ignition Coil - Install - Ignition Coil Replacement
