Circuit/System Testing

- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - OffNOTE:
It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down before an accurate ground or low reference circuit continuity test can be performed.
- Disconnect the electrical connector: X175@T12 Automatic Transmission Assembly
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for 8. 5 to 9. 5 V between the test points:
- 9V Reference Circuit 1 Terminal 31 & Ground
- 9V Reference Circuit 2 Terminal 29 & Ground
- If less than 8. 5 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points:
- 9V Reference Circuit 1 Terminal 31 & Ground
- 9V Reference Circuit 2 Terminal 29 & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:
- 9V Reference Circuit 1 Terminal 31 & Terminal 7@Control module harness
- 9V Reference Circuit 2 Terminal 29 & Terminal 8@Control module harness
- If greater than 2 ohms - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component: K71 Transmission Control Module
- If greater than 9. 5 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points:
- 9V Reference Circuit 1 Terminal 31 & Ground
- 9V Reference Circuit 2 Terminal 29 & Ground
- If greater than 1 V - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 V - Replace the component: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Go to next step: If between 8. 5 and 9. 5 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points:
- { P182A, P1838, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 22 & 9V Reference Circuit 2 Terminal 29
- { P182B, P182C, P18BB, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 28 & 9V Reference Circuit 1 Terminal 31
- { P182F, P1839, P18BA, P18C0 } Signal circuit terminal 21 & 9V Reference Circuit 2 Terminal 29
- { P1824, P182D, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 23 & 9V Reference Circuit 1 Terminal 31
- { P1840, P1841, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 34 & 9V Reference Circuit 1 Terminal 31
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Verify the scan tool parameter: Internal Mode Switch A/B/C/P/S = 4. 8 to 5. 2 V
- If greater than 5. 2 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points:
- { P182A, P1838, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 22 & Ground
- { P182B, P182C, P18BB, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 28 & Ground
- { P182F, P1839, P18BA, P18C0 } Signal circuit terminal 21 & Ground
- { P1824, P182D, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 23 & Ground
- { P1840, P1841, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 34 & Ground
- If greater than 1 V - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 V - Replace the component: K71 Transmission Control Module
- If less than 4. 8 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points:
- { P182A, P1838, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 22 & Ground
- { P182B, P182C, P18BB, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 28 & Ground
- { P182F, P1839, P18BA, P18C0 } Signal circuit terminal 21 & Ground
- { P1824, P182D, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 23 & Ground
- { P1840, P1841, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 34 & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points:
- { P182A, P1838, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 22 & Terminal 62@Control module harness
- { P182B, P182C, P18BB, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 28 & Terminal 61@Control module harness
- { P182F, P1839, P18BA, P18C0 } Signal circuit terminal 21 & Terminal 60@Control module harness
- { P1824, P182D, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 23 & Terminal 59@Control module harness
- { P1840, P1841, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 34 & Terminal 47@Control module harness
- If greater than 2 ohms - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Go to next step: If between 4. 8 and 5. 2 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Remove the component: Automatic Transmission Fluid Pan
- Disconnect the electrical connector: B15 Transmission Internal Mode Switch
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for 8. 5 to 9. 5 V between the test points:
- { P1824, P182B, P1840 } 9V Reference Circuit 1 Terminal 10 & Ground
- { P182A, P1839 } 9V Reference Circuit 2 Terminal 4 & Ground
- If not between 8. 5 and 9. 5 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: X176
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for 8. 5 to 9. 5 V between the test points:
- { P1824, P182B, P1840 } 9V Reference Circuit 1 Terminal 19 & Ground
- { P182A, P1839 } 9V Reference Circuit 2 Terminal 5 & Ground
- If not between 8. 5 and 9. 5 V - Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Wiring Harness
- If between 8. 5 and 9. 5 V - Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Control Wiring Harness
- Go to next step: If between 8. 5 and 9. 5 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points:
- { P182A, P1838, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 5 & 9V Reference Circuit 2 Terminal 4
- { P182B, P182C, P18BB, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 8 & 9V Reference Circuit 1 Terminal 10
- { P182F, P1839, P18BA, P18C0 } Signal circuit terminal 6 & 9V Reference Circuit 2 Terminal 4
- { P1824, P182D, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 9 & 9V Reference Circuit 1 Terminal 10
- { P1840, P1841, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 7 & 9V Reference Circuit 1 Terminal 10
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Verify the scan tool parameter: Internal Mode Switch A/B/C/P/S = 4. 8 to 5. 2 V
- If not between 4. 8 and 5. 2 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: X176
- Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points:
- { P182A, P1838, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 2 & 9V Reference Circuit 2 Terminal 5
- { P182B, P182C, P18BB, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 3 & 9V Reference Circuit 1 Terminal 19
- { P182F, P1839, P18BA, P18C0 } Signal circuit terminal 11 & 9V Reference Circuit 2 Terminal 5
- { P1824, P182D, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 17 & 9V Reference Circuit 1 Terminal 19
- { P1840, P1841, P18BA, P18BF } Signal circuit terminal 6 & 9V Reference Circuit 1 Terminal 19
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Verify the scan tool parameter: Internal Mode Switch A/B/C/P/S = 4. 8 to 5. 2 V
- If not between 4. 8 and 5. 2 V - Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Wiring Harness
- If between 4. 8 and 5. 2 V - Replace the component: Automatic Transmission Control Wiring Harness
- Go to next step: If between 4. 8 and 5. 2 V
- Replace the component: B15 Transmission Internal Mode Switch
