Removal Procedure

Remove the propeller shaft. Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (Coupe with M5T, MI1, MI2, MI4) , or Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (Convertible with M5T, MI1, MI2, MI4) .

Install the J-45012 Holding Fixture (3) to the propeller shaft transmission flange (2).

CAUTION:
Do not reuse the flange nut. Reusing the flange nut may cause damage to the transmission.

Remove and Discard the propeller shaft transmission flange nut (1).

NOTE:

If the propeller shaft transmission flange is not easily removed with J 45012 Holding Fixture use. DT 38416 B Harmonic Balancer Remover to remove the flange.

Remove the propeller shaft transmission flange (2) from the output shaft.

NOTE:

Do not scrape or gouge the case extension housing while removing the output shaft seal.

Use the J-6125-B Slide Hammer and J-23129 Seal Remover to remove the propeller shaft transmission seal (3) from the case extension housing.
