Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement , or Camshaft Cover Replacement (LV7) .
  2. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement , or Crankshaft Balancer Replacement (LV7) .
  3. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement .
  4. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement (L5Q) .
  5. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement , or Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement (LV7) .
  6. Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture (LV7) , or Engine Support Fixture .

    Remove the air conditioning evaporate hose assembly bracket nut (1) and set aside the air conditioning evaporate hose assembly bracket (2).

  8. Remove the engine mount bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement .

    Carefully tap the coiled spring pins (1) out of the engine front cover and the engine block so that they fall out with a suitable tool.

    Remove the engine front cover bolts (2, 4, 5) and stud (3).

  11. Locate pry-points on the engine front cover to loosen the cover from the engine block.
  12. Remove the engine front cover (6).
  13. Remove the engine front cover hole plug (1).

    Install the EN-51096  remover, remove the crankshaft front oil seal (1) from the engine front cover (2) and discard the seal.

  15. Cleaning all sealing surfaces from the engine front cover and the upper oil pan.
