Engine Block Deck Flatness Inspection

Ensure the engine block deck surface is clean and free of gasket material.
- Inspect the surface for any imperfections or scratches that could inhibit proper cylinder head gasket sealing.
- Using a straight-edge placed diagonally across the deck surface, measure the engine block - cylinder head deck surface for flatness using a feeler gauge. Refer to Engine Mechanical Specifications (L5Q) , or Engine Mechanical Specifications (LV7) .
- If the cylinder head deck surface flatness is more than the specified amount, replace the engine.
