Removal Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  3. Raise the vehicle by its full height. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  4. Place collecting basin underneath.
  5. Remove the oil drain bolt.
  6. Collect the engine oil.
    7. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  7. Install the NEW seal ring and the oil drain bolt, tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

    NOTE:

    Remove the oil pan evenly all the way around with a suitable tool.

    CAUTION:

    Always replace the used oil pan with a new oil pan. The lower oil pan becomes damaged during removal and oil leaks may occur if it is not replaced with a new oil pan.

    Remove the 12 lower oil pan bolts (1), and remove the lower oil pan (2).



  1. Clean the sealing surfaces.

    Ensure proper use of room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant. - Use of Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) and Anaerobic Sealant

    3. NOTE:
    • All sealing surfaces must be free of contamination prior to applying the sealant.
    • Installation and final torque specification must be completed within 10 minutes of applying the sealant.
  3. Apply a 5 mm bead of sealer (1) around the perimeter of the lower oil pan. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (Europe LV7) , or Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (Europe L5Q) , or Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (North America LV7) , or Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (North America L5Q) .
  4. Apply a 5 mm bead of sealer (1) around the perimeter of the lower oil pan. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (Europe LV7) , or Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (Europe L5Q) , or Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (North America LV7) , or Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (North America L5Q) .
  5. Install the NEW lower oil pan on the upper oil pan, ensure the oil pan locating pins align with the lower oil pan.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    NOTE:

    The assembly time including torque check must take no longer than 10 minutes.

    Install the 12 lower oil pan bolts (1). Tighten the bolts a first pass to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

  7. Tighten the bolts a final pass to final torque specification. Tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Refill the collected engine oil.
  10. Close the hood.
