Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Ignition Off, and all vehicle systems Off, disconnect the harness connector at the A38 Reductant Pump and Sensor Assembly. It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down.
- Ignition On. Test for less than 11 Ω between the low reference circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- If 11 Ω or greater
- Disconnect the X2 connector at the K115 Reductant Control Module.
- Test for less than 2 Ω between A38 Reductant Pump and Sensor Assembly harness connector low reference circuit terminal 3 and K115 Reductant Control Module X2 harness connector terminal 14.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, replace the K115 Reductant Control Module.
- Go to next step: If less than 11 Ω
- Ignition On, test for 4.8 - 5.2 V between the 5 V reference circuit terminal 5 and ground.
- If less than 4.8 V
- Ignition Off, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the K115 Reductant Control Module.
- Test for less than 2 Ω between A38 Reductant Pump and Sensor Assembly harness connector 5 V reference circuit terminal 5 and K115 Reductant Control Module X2 harness connector terminal 12.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, replace the K115 Reductant Control Module.
- If greater than 5.2 V
- Ignition Off, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the K115 Reductant Control Module, ignition On.
- Test for less than 1 V between the A38 Reductant Pump and Sensor Assembly harness connector 5 V reference circuit terminal 5 and ground.
- If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 V, replace the K115 Reductant Control Module.
- Go to next step: If between 4.8 - 5.2 V
- Verify with a scan tool that the Pressure Sensor voltage parameter is 0 V.
- If greater than 0 V
- Ignition Off, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the K115 Reductant Control Module.
- Test for less than 1 V between the A38 Reductant Pump and Sensor Assembly harness connector signal circuit terminal 4 and ground.
- If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage in the circuit.
- If less than 1 V, replace the K115 Reductant Control Module.
- Go to next step: If 0 V
- Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the between the A38 Reductant Pump and Sensor Assembly harness connector signal circuit terminal 4 and 5 V reference circuit terminal 5. Verify with a scan tool that the Pressure Sensor voltage parameter is greater than 4.5 V
- If 4.5 V or less
- Ignition Off, remove the jumper wire, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the K115 Reductant Control Module.
- Test for infinite resistance between the A38 Reductant Pump and Sensor Assembly circuit signal harness connector terminal 4 and ground.
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground at the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 Ω between A38 Reductant Pump and Sensor Assembly harness connector terminal 4 and K115 Reductant Control Module X2 harness connector terminal 13.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, replace the K115 Reductant Control Module.
- Go to next step: If greater than 4.5 V
- Replace the A38 Reductant Pump and Sensor Assembly
