Rear Compartment Lid Hinge Torque Rod Replacement

WARNING: The rear compartment lid hinge torque rods are under extreme spring tension. To avoid personal injury, use care when removing or installing the torque rods. WARNING: When a rear compartment lid hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.
1	Rear Compartment Lid Hinge Torque Rod - Right Side Procedure Using an appropriate size deep socket with an extension, slide the socket end over the end of the torque rod. Rotate the torque rod upward to release it from the swing bracket and slowly rotate the torque rod downward until the tension is released. Unclip torque rod from hinge retainers. Remove the torque rod from the vehicle.
2	Rear Compartment Lid Hinge Torque Rod - Left Side Procedure Using an appropriate size deep socket with an extension, slide the socket end over the end of the torque rod. Rotate the torque rod upward to release it from the swing bracket and slowly rotate the torque rod downward until the tension is released. Unclip torque rod from hinge retainers. Remove the torque rod from the vehicle.

Procedure

Using an appropriate size deep socket with an extension, slide the socket end over the end of the torque rod. Rotate the torque rod upward to release it from the swing bracket and slowly rotate the torque rod downward until the tension is released.
Unclip torque rod from hinge retainers.
Remove the torque rod from the vehicle.
