Installation Procedure

  1. GM3977663

    Timing Chain Tensioner Shoe(2) - Install

    2. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  2. Timing Chain Tensioner Shoe Bolt(1) - Install and tighten 25 N.m (18 lb ft)

    Release the tensioner plunger (1). Timing Chain Tensioner Replacement 

  4. GM3977683

    Inspect the timing chain marks to confirm they remained aligned after engaging the timing chain tensioner.

  5. GM4091100

    Remove camshaft holding tool EN-51367  (1).

  6. Using a suitable tool, rotate the crankshaft one complete engine cycle then verify the timing chain marks (1, 2 and 3) are aligned properly.
