Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine front cover. Engine Front Cover Replacement 
  2. Reset the tensioner plunger and inspect for proper operation. Camshaft Timing Chain and Sprocket Cleaning and Inspection 
  3. GM3977673

    Remove the timing chain guide fasteners (1) then remove the timing chain guide (2). Timing Chain Upper Guide Replacement 

  4. GM3978605

    Remove the timing chain oil nozzle (1).

  5. For camshaft timing chain, oil nozzle, sprocket and tensioner cleaning and inspection, refer to Camshaft Timing Chain and Sprocket Cleaning and Inspection .
