Installation Procedure

  1. GM3973496
    NOTE:
    • The lower crankcase surface must be free of contamination prior to applying the sealer.
    • Install and align the oil pan to block within 10 minutes of applying the sealer.
    • The oil pan must be fastened to final torque specification within 60 minutes of applying the sealer.

    Apply a 4.25 mm bead of sealer (1) on the level part of the flange around the perimeter of the NEW oil pan (2) as shown. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .

  2. GM3973482

    Lower Oil Pan(2) - Install NEW

  3. Lower Oil Pan Bolt(1) - Install[12x]
  4. Hand tighten the bolts.(1)

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    Tighten the oil pan bolts in sequence.10 N.m (89 lb in)

  6. Fill the engine oil and install a NEW filter. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
