Circuit/System Verification
- Ignition ON.
- Verify the scan tool Headlamps On Switch parameter changes between Active and Inactive while commanding the headlamp ON and OFF with the Headlamp switch.
- If the parameter does not change
Refer to Circuit/System Testing - Headlamp Switch Malfunction.
- Go to next step: If the parameter changes
- If the parameter does not change
- Verify the scan tool Automatic Headlamps Disable Switch parameter changes between Active and Inactive while commanding the automatic lamp control ON and OFF with the Headlamp switch.
- If the parameter does not change
Refer to Circuit/System Testing - Headlamp Switch Malfunction.
- Go to next step: If the parameter changes
- If the parameter does not change
- Verify the scan tool Headlamps Flash Switch parameter changes between Active and Inactive while commanding the flash to pass ON and OFF with the turn signal/multifunction switch.
- If the parameter does not change
Refer to Circuit/System Testing - Turn Signal/Multifunction Switch Malfunction.
- Go to next step: If the parameter changes
- If the parameter does not change
- Verify the scan tool High Beam Select Switch parameter changes between Active and Inactive while commanding the high beams ON and OFF with the turn signal/multifunction switch.
- If the parameter does not change
Refer to Circuit/System Testing - Turn Signal/Multifunction Switch Malfunction.
- Go to next step: If the parameter changes
- If the parameter does not change
- Connect a test lamp between the Left Low Beam Fuse (F32UA) test point and ground, ignition ON.
- Verify the test lamp turns ON and OFF when commanding the Low Beam Headlamps ON and OFF with a scan tool.
- If the test lamp does not turn ON and OFF
Refer to Circuit/System Testing - BCM Relay Control Malfunction
- Go to next step: If the test lamp turns ON and OFF
- If the test lamp does not turn ON and OFF
- Connect a test lamp between the Right Low Beam Fuse (F37UA) test point and ground, ignition ON.
- Verify the test lamp turns ON and OFF when commanding the Low Beam Headlamps ON and OFF with a scan tool.
- If the test lamp does not turn ON and OFF
Refer to Circuit/System Testing - BCM Relay Control Malfunction
- Go to next step: If the test lamp turns ON and OFF
- If the test lamp does not turn ON and OFF
- Remove the test lamp.
- Verify the low beam headlamps turn ON and OFF when commanding the Low Beam Headlamps ON and OFF with a scan tool.
- If the low beam headlamps do not turn ON and OFF
Refer to Circuit/System Testing - Headlamps Malfunction - Low Beam (T4F or T4L).
- Go to next step: If the low beam headlamps turn ON and OFF
- If the low beam headlamps do not turn ON and OFF
- Verify the high beams turn ON and OFF when commanding the High Beams ON and OFF with a scan tool.
- If the high beams do not turn ON and OFF
Refer to Circuit/System Testing - Headlamps Malfunction - High Beam.
- Go to next step: If the high beams turn ON and OFF
- If the high beams do not turn ON and OFF
- (TQ5 only), verify the automatic high beam control indicator on the instrument cluster turns ON and OFF while commanding the automatic high beam control ON and OFF with the automatic high beam control switch located on the Turn Signal/Multifunction switch.
- If the automatic high beam control indicator does not turn ON and OFF
Refer to Automatic High Beam Select Switch Malfunction.
- Go to next step: If the automatic high beam control indicator turns ON and OFF
- If the automatic high beam control indicator does not turn ON and OFF
- Placing a towel over the ambient light sensor can simulate a dim light condition and shining an incandescent light at the ambient light sensor can simulate a bright light condition.
- Verify the scan tool Ambient Light Status parameter changes while switching from dim to bright ambient light conditions
- If the parameter does not change
Refer to Ambient Light Sensor Malfunction.
- Go to next step: If the parameter changes and the automatic headlamps turn ON and OFF
- If the parameter does not change
- All OK.
