Front Wheel Hub, Bearing And Seal Replacement (Light Duty)

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Separate {If equipped} Front Wheel Drive Shaft@Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly - Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side (1500) or Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (1500)
  2. Front Brake Rotor Replacement (JD9)Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J95)
  3. Disconnect the front wheel speed sensor electrical connector and detach the sensor retainers from the steering knuckle. Refer to Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement (Without 9C1)Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement (With 9C1)
1 Front Wheel Hub and Bearing Assembly Bolt [3x]
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
NOTE:
  • Vehicles equipped with aluminum steering knuckles come equipped with hardened steel washers located between the steering knuckle and the front wheel hub and bearing assembly bolts.
  • The hardened steel washers MUST be reinstalled or the fastener tightening measurement may be inaccurate.

Tighten 
180 N.m (133 lb ft)
2 Front Wheel Hub and Bearing Assembly
Procedure 
Apply grease evenly and ensure complete coverage to the steering knuckle bearing pilot bore only. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants and Sealers 
NOTE:
  • Avoid applying grease to any other machined surfaces, holes or threads. Ensure the drain channel at the bottom of the bore is not blocked with grease or debris.
  • The NEW front wheel hub and bearing assembly comes with a NEW front wheel speed sensor already installed.
