Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2018 GMC Yukon XL, 2018 GMC Yukon, 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2018 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2018 Cadillac Escalade ESV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Fuel Pressure Relief

  3. Remove the fuel pump insulator (1). Fuel Pump Insulator Replacement

  5. Remove the fuel feed pipe fastener (4) and disconnect the fuel feed pipe (1) from the fuel pump (2). Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

    NOTE:

    Do NOT reuse the fuel feed intermediate pipe. If the fuel feed intermediate pipe fittings are loosened or the pipes are removed, the pipes MUST be replaced.

  7. Remove and DISCARD the fuel feed intermediate pipe (1). Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement - Position 1 
  8. Disconnect and reposition the fuel pump and fuel injector wiring harness as necessary.

    CAUTION:

    Alternately loosen the fuel pump bolts one turn at a time until the pump is fully disengaged from fuel pump lifter follower. Trying to remove the pump bolts without even side-to-side loosening may result in pump plunger damage

  10. Remove Fuel Pump Bolt (5)
  11. Remove Fuel Pump Cover (4)
  12. Remove Retainer (3)
  13. Remove the fuel pump (2) and fuel pump gasket (1) from the engine.
  14. DISCARD the fuel pump gasket.
