Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement - Position 2

CAUTION:

Fuel feed intermediate pipes will be delivered with shipping caps that are meant to protect the mating joint threads. Do NOT remove shipping caps until the pipe is to be installed and joints are to be secured. Failure to do so could result in damage to the mating threads.

NOTE:
  • Do NOT reuse the fuel feed intermediate pipe. If the fuel feed intermediate pipe fittings are loosened or the pipes are removed, the pipes MUST be replaced.
  • The tightening order and torque are CRITICAL to proper fuel system fit and function. Be sure to follow installation and tightening steps EXACTLY.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Fuel Pressure Relief 
  2. Fuel Pump Insulator Replacement 
1 Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Fitting [2x]

Procedure

  1. Hold the NEW fuel feed intermediate pipe in the installation position.
  2. At each connection point, slide the fitting nut backwards along the pipe to reveal the sphere.
  3. At each connection point, carefully seat the sphere to the mating socket and hold the sphere firmly to the socket while finger tightening the fitting nut.
NOTE:

Following the procedure steps will prevent dislodging any wax from the fuel feed intermediate pipe fitting nut threads and ensure a proper seal.


Tighten 
30 N.m (22 lb ft)
2 Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe

Procedure

  1. Remove and DISCARD the pipe.
  2. Inspect for leaks using the following procedure:
    1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
    2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    3. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
    4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
NOTE:

If a fuel leak occurs at the fuel pump or the fuel feed intermediate pipe, the corresponding component will need to be replaced.
