Removal Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2018 GMC Yukon XL, 2018 GMC Yukon, 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2018 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2018 Cadillac Escalade ESV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Dual Battery)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery) .
- Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (Chevrolet and GMC)Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (Cadillac) .
- Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (1) from the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor.
- Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector (2) from the throttle actuator.
- Disconnect the EVAP canister purge tube (1) quick connect fitting from the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
- Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector (1) from the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve.
- Remove the engine harness retainers (1) from the intake manifold.
- Disconnect the center positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the intake manifold fitting and position aside. Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Left Side - L83, L86) Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Right Side - L83, L86) Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Center - L83) Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Center - L86) .
- Remove the engine harness retainers (1) from the intake manifold.
- Loosen the 10 intake manifold bolts (1) and position the manifold forward to gain access to the rear engine harness retainers.
- Remove the engine harness retainers (1) from the intake manifold.
- Disconnect Power Brake Booster Vacuum Pipe Quick Connect (1)
- Remove the intake manifold.
- Cover the cylinder head passages in order to prevent dirt or debris from entering the passages.
- Remove and discard the intake manifold gaskets (1).
- Clean and inspect the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Cleaning and Inspection .
- Transfer components as necessary.
NOTE:
The aid of an assistant may be helpful in holding the engine harness up out of the way so the upper intake manifold cover does not get caught against the engine harness.
