Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2018 GMC Yukon XL, 2018 GMC Yukon, 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2018 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2018 Cadillac Escalade ESV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Install NEW intake manifold gaskets (1) to the intake manifold.
  2. Apply a 5 mm (0.20 in) band of threadlock to the threads of the intake manifold bolts. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
  3. Remove the covers from the cylinder head passages.

  5. Install the intake manifold (2).

  7. Connect Power Brake Booster Vacuum Pipe Quick Connect (1)

  9. Attach the engine harness retainers (1) to the intake manifold.
  10. NOTE:

    The aid of an assistant may be helpful in holding the engine harness up out of the way so the upper intake manifold cover does not get caught against the engine harness.

  11. Install the intake manifold bolts (1) finger tight.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  13. Tighten the intake manifold bolts to specifications.

    Tighten 

    • Tighten the bolts a first pass in the sequence shown to 5 N.m (44 lb in).
    • Tighten the bolts a final pass in the sequence shown to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  15. Attach the engine harness retainers (1) to the intake manifold.
  16. Connect the center positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the intake manifold fitting and position aside. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

  18. Attach the engine harness retainers (1) to the intake manifold.

  20. Connect the engine harness electrical connector (1) to the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve.

  22. Connect the EVAP canister purge tube (1) quick connect fitting to the EVAP canister purge solenoid. Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Left Side - L83, L86) Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Right Side - L83, L86) Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Center - L83) Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Center - L86) .

  24. Connect the engine harness electrical connector (2) to the throttle actuator.
  25. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (1) to the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor.
  26. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (Chevrolet and GMC)Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (Cadillac) .
  27. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Dual Battery)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery) .
