Removal Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2018 GMC Yukon XL, 2018 GMC Yukon, 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2018 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2018 Cadillac Escalade ESV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
- Remove the engine oil cooler hoses (2) from the retainer (1).
- Disconnect the engine oil cooler hoses (2) from the radiator fittings (3). Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
- Remove the steering gear skid shield. Refer to Steering Gear Skid Shield Replacement .
- Remove the oil cooler bracket fastener (1) and separate the oil cooler hoses (2) from the engine block.
- Disconnect the intermediate steering shaft at the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement
- Lower the electric belt drive rack and pinion steering gear. Refer to Electric Belt Drive Rack and Pinion Steering Gear Replacement .
- Using a suitable adjustable Jack, support the front axle.
- Remove the two left side front axle bolts and lower the axle enough to create clearance for oil cooler line removal.
- Remove the engine oil cooler adapter fasteners (1) and separate the oil cooler adapter (2) from the engine block.
DISCARD the oil cooler adapter gasket (3).
- Remove the oil cooler hoses and gasket from the vehicle.
NOTE:
If equipped with 2WD perform steps 6 and 7.

Note the routing and orientation of the engine oil cooler hoses to insure proper installation.
