Preliminary Procedure Remove the automatic transmission flex plate. Refer to Automatic Transmission Flex Plate Replacement .
1	Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Housing Fastener (Qty; 12) CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution . Tighten 25 N.m (18 lb ft)
2	Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Housing Procedure To separate the rear housing from the engine, pry at the points that are shown by the arrows.
3	Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Housing Gasket Procedure A NEW gasket must be used when installing the rear housing.
4	Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Housing Sealant Procedure Apply a 3 mm (0.118 in) bead of RTV sealant on the engine rear cover as shown. Apply a 5 mm (0.197 in) bead of RTV sealant on the engine rear cover as shown. The 5 mm (0.197 in) bead must be applied only 10 mm (0.393 in) up from the bottom of the rear cover as shown (a).
