Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2018 GMC Yukon XL, 2018 GMC Yukon, 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2018 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2018 Cadillac Escalade ESV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the vacuum pump belt. Refer to Vacuum Pump Belt Replacement .
  2. Remove the starter motor. Refer to Starter Replacement (L83, L86) .

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    NOTE:

    Ensure that the teeth of the EN-42386-A  flywheel holding tool mesh with the teeth of the engine flywheel.

  4. Install the EN-42386-A  flywheel holding tool (2) and bolts. Use one M10-1.5 x 120 mm and one M10 - 1.5 x 45 mm bolt for proper tool operation. Tighten the EN-42386-A  flywheel holding tool bolts (1) to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  6. Remove the crankshaft balancer bolt (1). Do not discard the crankshaft balancer bolt at this time. The old balancer bolt will be used during the balancer installation procedure.

  8. Install the EN-41816  crankshaft balancer remover (1) and EN-41816-2  crankshaft end protector to the crankshaft balancer.
  9. Remove the crankshaft balancer (2).
