Vacuum Pump Cleaning And Inspection

- Remove the old gasket from the vacuum pump sealing surfaces. Refer to Replacing Engine Gaskets .
- Clean all excess dirt and debris from the vacuum pump housing.
- Inspect the vacuum pump for the following conditions:
- Gasket and hose sealing surfaces for excessive scratches or gouging
- Excessive side-to-side play in the pulley shaft
- Leakage at the vacuum inlet housing or rear cover
- Leakage at the vacuum pump vent hole
- Wear or damage in the belt tracking area of the pulley
