Automatic Transmission Flex Plate Installation

Special Tools
EN-45059 Angle Meter
For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .
- Install the flex plate (1) to the crankshaft.
- Install the NEW engine flex plate bolts (2).
- Tighten the engine flex plate bolts (1 - 8) a first pass in sequence to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
- Tighten the engine flex plate bolts (1 - 8) a second pass in sequence to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
- Tighten the engine flex plate bolts (1 - 8) a final pass in sequence an additional 45 degrees using EN-45059 angle meter.
NOTE:
The flex plate does not use a locating pin for alignment and will not initially seat against the crankshaft flange, but will be pulled onto the crankshaft by the engine flex plate bolts. This procedure requires a 3 stage tightening process.
CAUTION:
This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

Must use NEW bolts.
