Transmission Service Fast Learn Procedure (MR8): Procedure

  1. Use a scan tool to navigate to Transmission Service Fast Learn by selecting the following:
    1. Module Diagnostics
    2. Transmission Control Module
    3. Configuration/Reset Functions
    4. Transmission Service Fast Learn
    2. NOTE:

    If at any time during the procedure the required conditions are not met the Transmission Service Fast Learn procedure may abort and the process may need to be started again from the beginning.

  2. Perform the scan tool learn/reset function: Transmission Service Fast Learn - Follow the instructions on the scan tool.
  3. Procedure Complete - Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
  4. Wait 2 minutes to ensure control module shut down.
    5. NOTE:

    When the Transmission Service Fast Learn procedure is completed, the transmission will remain in a neutral state until the controller shuts down. Turn ignition OFF, remove scan tool and wait 2 minutes. If after engine restart the vehicle remains in a neutral state, disconnect the battery and wait 10 minutes. Reconnect battery. Restart the engine. R and D should return.

  5. Restart the engine, this will complete the Transmission Service Fast Learn procedure.
    6. NOTE:

    After completing the Transmission Service Fast Learn procedure, perform the following to avoid future misdiagnosis:

  6. Turn the ignition OFF for 30 seconds.
  7. Ignition On - Engine Off
  8. Request DTCs
  9. Clear All Vehicle DTCs
