Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:

It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down before an accurate ground or low reference circuit continuity test can be performed.

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector: X2 @ K71 Transmission Control Module
  2. Connect a test lamp between the test points: Control circuit terminal 16 @ Control module harness & Ground
  3. Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
  4. Verify the test lamp turns On.
    • If the test lamp turns On
  5. Disconnect the ground connection: G110
  6. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: Ground circuit terminal G110 @ X50A Fuse Block - Underhood & The other end of the circuit
    • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
    • Go to next step: If 2 ohms or less

Go to next step: Test or replace the component: K71 Transmission Control Module

    • If the test lamp does not turn On
  7. Remove the component: KR157 Transmission Control Module Relay
  8. Verify a test lamp turns On between the test points: B+ circuit terminal 86 @ Relay Socket & Ground
    • If the test lamp turns On
  9. Verify a test lamp turns On between the test points: B+ circuit terminal 87 @ Relay Socket & Ground
    • If the test lamp does not turn On

Test or replace the component: X50A Fuse Block - Underhood

    • Go to next step: If the test lamp turns On
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector: X1 @ X50A Fuse Block - Underhood

Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Control circuit terminal 41 @ Component harness & Ground

      • If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If infinite resistance
    2. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: Control circuit terminal 16 @ Control module harness & The other end of the circuit
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If 2 ohms or less

Go to next step: Test or replace the component: KR157 Transmission Control Module Relay

    • If the test lamp does not turn On
  10. Disconnect the electrical connector: X1 @ X50A Fuse Block - Underhood
  11. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Control circuit terminal 47 @ Component & Ground
    • If less than infinite resistance

Repair short to ground on the circuit.

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance
    1. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: Control circuit terminal 47 @ Component & The other end of the circuit
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If 2 ohms or less

Go to next step: Test or replace the component: X50A Fuse Block - Underhood
