B13 Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor
- Disconnect the electrical connector: @ Q8 Control Solenoid Valve Assembly
- When test probing harness terminals, it is imperative to use the proper test probe from the most current version of the J-35616 GM-Approved Terminal Test Kit. Use of an improper test probe may deform the terminal, resulting in intermittent open conditions.
- Testing for Step 2 is performed on the Q8 Control Solenoid Valve Assembly connector using the GY probe J-35616-3.
- Test for the resistance listed below between the test points: Signal circuit terminal 12 & Low Reference circuit terminal 18
- If the resistance is not within range
Replace the component: Q8 Control Solenoid Valve Assembly
- Go to next step: If the resistance is within range
- If the resistance is not within range
- All OK.
NOTE:
K71 Transmission Control Module
- Ignition Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: @ Q8 Control Solenoid Valve Assembly

- Testing for steps *****3-x***** is performed on the Q8 Control Solenoid Valve Assembly harness using the GY probe J-35616-2A.
- Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Verify the scan tool parameter: Transmission Fluid Temperature = -40°C (-40°F)
- If the Transmission Fluid Temperature parameter does not display -40°C (-40°F).
Replace the component: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Go to next step: If the Transmission Fluid Temperature parameter does display -40°C (-40°F)
- If the Transmission Fluid Temperature parameter does not display -40°C (-40°F).
- Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points: Signal circuit terminal 12 & Low Reference terminal 12
- Verify the scan tool parameter: Transmission Fluid Temperature = 180°C (356°F)
- If the Transmission Fluid Temperature parameter does not display 180°C (356°F).
Replace the component: K71 Transmission Control Module
- Go to next step: If the Transmission Fluid Temperature parameter does display 180°C (356°F)
- If the Transmission Fluid Temperature parameter does not display 180°C (356°F).
- All OK.
NOTE:
Circuit/System Testing must be performed before proceeding to K71 Transmission Control Module testing.
