Safety Regulations for Suspension, Tires and Wheels: General

Consider the running direction when installing directional tires.
If installing aftermarket wheels (such as snow tires) with wheel hub caps that cover the whole wheel, make sure that long tire valve stems are installed to keep the valves accessible.
Only use GM approved wheel hub caps validated to GM specifications to ensure proper brake system cooling.
After an accident, the following components should be visually checked for bending, cracks or damages, independently of the suspension alignment check, which should always be performed:
- The suspension and all related components, such as spring, strut, steering knuckle, lower control arm, drivetrain / front suspension frame, stabilizers, stabilizer links and there fastening parts.
- Steering gear and steering linkage. In addition, check for correct operation through the entire steering angle.
- Check wheels, rims and tires additionally, check tires for cuts, tread-depth and radial and lateral runout
