Repair Information - Fuel System

- When working on the fuel system, ensure that any escaping fuel is captured in suitable containers. Ensure that no engine or vehicle components come into contact with escaping fuel. Dispose escaped fuel immediately and clean contaminated components.
- Reduce fuel pressure via test connector on fuel pressure gauge and collect escaping fuel in suitable container.
- Drain fuel tank using a suitable fuel refilling unit. Store drained fuel in suitable, lockable containers.
- Do not mix fuels types - danger of damage to the engine.
- The utmost cleanliness is important when working on the open fuel system.
- Never use lint-producing cloths to working at the fuel system.
- Before removing fuel system components, thoroughly clean connections and their immediate vicinity.
- Open fuel lines must be securely sealed using the appropriate special tool.
- If repairs cannot be carried out immediately, seal open components or cover them carefully.
- Repair information for fuel pipes and vacuum pipes:
- Damaged lines, connections and components have to be replaced.
- Install the fuel lines torsion-free.
- Fuel lines must not be pinched.
- Fuel lines must not be kinked.
- Avoid chafing of all lines and pipes.
- Fuel lines must be installed and tightened in their original positions.
- Always check for leaks after opening the fuel system - visual inspection.
