Repair Information

- When replacing brake discs, the disc brake pads on this axle must be also replaced. Always replace all brake pads on one axle. After the replacement of disc brake pads, full brake application should be avoided for the first 200 km (124 mi) to allow for proper brake-in at brake pads and discs.
- Microencapsulated bolts must not be re-used and have to be DISCARDED after removal. Clean the thread of the bore and replace the bolt with a new one. Service may offer new bolts, which are not microencapsulated. In this case, apply a GM approved thread lock agent to the new bolt.
- Torque-to-yield fasteners must not be re-used and have to be DISCARDED after removal. Always replace torque-to-yield fasteners with new fasteners.
- Self-locking nuts must not be re-used and have to be DISCARD after removal. Always replace self-locking nuts with new ones.
- Do not perform machining work when overhauling parts of the brake system. Machining work is only allowed on brake discs and brake drums.
- Friction surfaces of brake pads, brake discs and brake drums must not come into contact with grease or lubricants. Only use GM approved special brake cleaner.
- Remove any debris or dirt between the brake disc / brake drum and wheel hub mating surface before installation. Check if the mating surfaces are flat and burr-free.
- Install brake hoses to designated brackets - ensure correct, twist-free routing of the hoses.
- After working on the brake system hydraulics, the brake system must be bleeded and checked for leaks. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual)Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) .
- For vehicles equipped with ABS:
- When welding in the immediate vicinity of control units, disconnect wiring harness connectors and remove control unit.
- Electronic brake control modules can be damaged at temperatures above 80°C (176°F).
