Removal Procedure

WARNING: Refer to Brake Dust Warning .

Ensure that the park brake lever is in the fully released position.
Remove the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
Release the tension from the park brake cables. Using ONLY HAND TOOL, loosen the adjusting nut (1) completely to the end of the park brake cable threaded rod.

Disconnect the park brake cable (1) from the park brake cable equalizer (2).

Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
Remove the wheel and tire assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
Remove the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
Remove the rear park brake cable retaining clip (1) from the drum brake backing plate.

Using a flat-bladed screwdriver, disconnect the park brake cable from the park brake lever of the drum brake shoe.
Remove the park brake cable mounting clamp nut (1) and remove the park brake cable mounting clamp (2) from the rear axle bracket.

Remove the park brake cable mounting clamp nut (1) and remove the park brake cable mounting clamp (2) from the rear side rail.

Remove the park brake cable mounting clamp nut (1) and remove the park brake cable mounting clamp (2) from the floor panel cross bar.

Remove the park brake cable from the vehicle.
