Removal Procedure

- Ensure that the park brake lever is in the fully released position.
- Remove the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
- Release the tension from the park brake cables. Using ONLY HAND TOOL, loosen the adjusting nut (1) completely to the end of the park brake cable threaded rod.
- Disconnect the park brake cable (1) from the park brake cable equalizer (2).
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the wheel and tire assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Remove the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
- Remove the rear park brake cable retaining clip (1) from the drum brake backing plate.
- Using a flat-bladed screwdriver, disconnect the park brake cable from the park brake lever of the drum brake shoe.
- Remove the park brake cable mounting clamp nut (1) and remove the park brake cable mounting clamp (2) from the rear axle bracket.
- Remove the park brake cable mounting clamp nut (1) and remove the park brake cable mounting clamp (2) from the rear side rail.
- Remove the park brake cable mounting clamp nut (1) and remove the park brake cable mounting clamp (2) from the floor panel cross bar.
- Remove the park brake cable from the vehicle.
