Removal Procedure

- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking Caution .
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Remove the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
- Remove the rear wheel speed sensor, if equipped. Refer to Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement .
- Remove the brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
- Remove the wheel cylinder. Refer to Rear Brake Cylinder Replacement .
- Remove the park brake cable retaining clip (1) from the drum brake backing plate.
- Remove the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly (1) with the rear brake backing plate and spacer from the rear axle assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement .
- Remove the rear brake backing plate (2) and the rear brake backing plate spacer (3) from the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly.
